I think as soon as I could BREATHE l loved dogs! As a child (the youngest of 6) my parents had already heard every story there was about how "I will take care of it" and by the time I came along and begged for a dog, they just weren't having it. When I was about 14 new neighbors moved in and they had a boxer. He was tied up in the back corner of their yard, and it just so happened that Zeus was right by our shared fence. I was so taken with his looks and his demeanor that I knew from that age this was the dog for me.

As an adult I just couldn't wait to fulfill my dream as a boxer owner and eventually I met my mentor and soon to be my best friend, Sandee Leschewski, Shadoefax boxers. She taught me so much about breeding and showing and health testing. Back in that day we were laughed at by many of our "peers" because we were wasting our time doing echocardiogram, thyroid panels and hip x-rays (early 90s). Sandee and I co-bred and co-owned many litters/dogs together and I learned so much from her during that time.

Several years later, Sandee encouraged me to come up with my own kennel name as she was not going to be breeding anymore. I thought and thought and finally came up with Epitome Boxers, as my goal was to breed the "Epitome" of the boxer standard. I am still striving to study and learn as much as I can about structure, health, and I hope I live up to my kennel name.

These dogs mean the absolute world to me and I do everything I can do to preserve the breed that I love SO MUCH to be capable of doing what it was bred to do, have the sweet, loving, fearless temperament it is supposed to have, to be not only beautiful, but an incredible family dog, a great guard dog, a snuggle buddy, and be a healthy, long lived addition to a family.
